SCAM ALERT!

On February 27th, 2026, patrol officers responded to a local convenience store for the report of a possible fraud. In speaking with the complainant, they learned that she had been contacted by someone via phone, who identified themselves as Law Enforcement. The victim was then advised that a warrant had been issued for her arrest and that she would need to pay a bond of $10,000.00 via deposit into a Bitcoin kiosk. The victim believing this to be legitimate, complied with the request and made the deposit. Knowing that this transaction had just occurred, officers located the Bitcoin kiosk and began the process of seizing it as evidence of the crime, as well as making every attempt to recover the money that had been deposited.

During this time, another individual entered the location with $16,000.00 in cash, falling victim to the same scam. Officers were able to immediately intervene and prevent this potential victim from suffering financial loss.

While this machine is now in police custody, the Manassas Park Police Department would like to remind residents that no law enforcement officer will contact you attempting to collect bail or money of any kind.

If you are to receive one of these calls, do not send or deposit money.

Instead, please contact us at (703) 361-1136.
