Curbside Leaf Collection Begins October 13 in Manassas Park
Manassas Park, VA – The City of Manassas Park will begin its annual curbside leaf collection program on Tuesday, October 13, providing a convenient way to manage fallen leaves throughout the Fall season. Collection will continue through Friday, December 11, 2026.
City crews will collect leaves on a consecutive, street-by-street schedule. With this schedule in place, residents do not need to schedule a pickup or contact the City for collection.
To help crews collect the leaves safely and efficiently, residents should rake leaves to the curb while keeping piles clear of the traffic right-of-way. Sticks, brush, and other yard waste should not be mixed with the leaf piles.
Residents should also follow these important safety and collection guidelines:
- Keep storm drains clear. Leaves and grass clippings can block storm drains and contribute to flooding during periods of heavy rainfall. Never rake leaves or place grass clippings into a storm drain.
- Keep leaf piles out of the roadway and clear of areas where they could interfere with traffic.
- Do not allow children to play in leaf piles once they have been raked to the curb for collection.
- Do not park vehicles on or over the leaf piles. Dry leaves can create a fire hazard when they come in contact with a hot vehicle.
- Keep other yard waste separate. Sticks, brush, and other debris cannot be collected as part of the curbside leaf program and can potentially delay crews.
- Residents may also place leaves in biodegradable paper yard waste bags at the curb for regular yard waste recycling collection.
- Leaf collection is provided only along public streets. City crews will not collect leaves from private streets or private communities.
Residents can also consider another environmentally friendly approach. Mulched leaves can provide valuable nutrients for lawns and gardens, improve soil, and provide benefits for the local environment. Instead of placing all leaves at the curb, residents can mulch leaves directly into their lawn or use them around garden beds.
The City encourages residents to prepare leaf piles properly throughout collection season to help crews move efficiently through neighborhoods and keep streets and storm drains clear.
